If it doesn't scare you, you're probably not dreaming big enough. —Tory Burch
When it comes to the big goals or dreams of creating a life you want…
Does it feel like nothing is ever easy?
No matter how much you want something or how hard you try…
Things don’t come together for you like they do for other people?
And it becomes tempting to stop trying altogether—especially when the fear of failure feels like too much to bear…again.
You start to think, “Maybe it’s better to stay where I am than risk the pain of disappointment…again.”
I know how that can feel…
Like you’re the only one who can’t figure out how to
🏃🏼♀️ make time for exercise,
🥗 eat healthy,
🎨 explore your creative ideas,
💰 create financial freedom, and
👩🏾🤝👩🏼 resolve personal or professional relationship conflicts with kindness and respect.
Take heart. You are not alone. Everyone hits this wall at some point.
But what separates those who stay stuck from those who break through is this:
How you respond to discomfort.
There are two ways to handle your discomfort:
1. Pump the brakes
2. Step on the gas
When discomfort hits, the default reaction for most of us is to pump the brakes.
We stop. We hesitate.
We stay in our comfort zone because it’s familiar—even if it’s not where we want to be.
And that’s when we feel stuck, trying and trying, but never moving forward.
But what if, instead of pulling back, you leaned into the discomfort?
What if, when fear showed up, you hit the gas and moved forward anyway? That’s when momentum starts building.
That’s when you become unstoppable.
Think of this: If your dream is to write a book, but sharing your ideas feels terrifying, you’ll likely freeze. You’ll avoid writing anything…because there is always laundry to be done, TV shows to catchup on, and watching others live their dreams.
If your dream is to travel, participate in karaoke night, or learn Portuguese, but you don’t share that dream with anyone…
You could miss out on a new community of support and encouragement.
But if you decide to push through that fear and take bold action despite the discomfort—doors will open that you never knew were there.
Leaning into discomfort is the key to creating a life you love.
It may be scary at first, but the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
And soon, you’ll realize you’re speeding toward your goals like a Formula One race car, unstoppable and fully aligned with the life you’re meant to live.
Your dreams are waiting for you on the other side of discomfort.
Will you step on the gas?
