Intuition is seeing with the soul. —Dean Koontz
The past few days, family and friends centered our conversations on gratitude…being thankful for the people and things we have in our life.
One brave soul confessed that while she was certainly grateful for her beautiful family and abundant life, she wanted MORE.
Not more things. Maybe more DOING?
Not more items on a checklist. More focus, more courage, more action…and definitely more LIVING!
She has dreams…BIG dreams. But she also keeps putting things off, giving in to distractions, and talking herself out of taking action.
I found myself nodding along. The feeling is familiar to me. How about you?
We often have a burning desire to commit to a dream, but something holds us back from taking the next step toward taking action and creating a life we love.
We get stuck because we don’t know how to answer this question:
How do I know if fear is getting in the way of pursuing my dreams or if it’s my intuition telling me it really isn’t my dream?
Let’s clear this up right now!
The Difference Between Intuition and Fear
Intuition is a still, calm voice that speaks your truth without emotion.
This is NOT brain-based logic. It is your infinite nature composed of spirit that fears nothing and speaks to you without self-doubt or second-guessing.
It’s your inner “knowing.”
Intuition feels like expansion. Like taking a complete inhale and exhale.
Intuition brings calm.
Intuition knows the way and guides you to the next best step.
Fear is a dramatic, authoritarian voice that is connected to your nervous system with its only goal being to keep you alive.
Fear might warn you or shame you. This is helpful when crossing a busy street or when your words are hurtful to another person.
It’s not helpful when it convinces you your dreams are TOO BIG or TOO SMALL.
Fear feels like contraction. Like taking quick gasps of air and then holding your breath until you are forced to exhale.
Fear brings confusion and chaos.
Fear lies to you. It reinforces self-doubt and says things like:
“You should be satisfied with what you have.”
“You’re too young or too old.”
“Your dreams are too strange, too big, or not important.”
“You don’t have the time, money, or energy for dreams.”
“You must not want this enough or you would’ve made it happen by now.”
Which Inner Voice Do You Follow?
When it comes to listening to those inner voices, fear will bring a rollercoaster of emotion and try to stop you from fulfilling the vision you have for your life. It will keep you in your comfort zone…safe, but unfulfilled.
Intuition will bring gentle waves of peace and support. It will encourage you to take one step toward your dream. It will celebrate your courage and be a consistent companion and guide on the journey.
This week, trust the calm, dismiss the drama, and keep stepping toward those dreams of yours. Your intuition knows the way.
