This week, I’m sharing a special edition of my Sunday Seeds newsletter.
The message below is not mine, although I have a special connection to it’s amazing author/producer.
I’m highlighting this “seed” of wisdom and creative expression because it inspired me.
If you’ve ever had a dream.
If you’ve ever longed to be “the best.”
If you’ve ever lost your passion because of a need for perfection…
Find a place of quiet and stillness…and listen. 🧘🏻♀️🎵
Preserving the Passion
“The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs you, frees you, challenges you, or gives you a sense of meaning, joy, or passion..” —Tony Orlick
This special podcast by 16-year-old Norah Spanbauer, a runner-up in the New York Times Student Podcast Contest, may just be the “note” you need today to reconnect with your passion. 💚
Norah is a bright, shining light in my life…and also happens to be my niece. We are super proud of her creative activities and the hard work that goes into them.
Like her, I grew up playing the violin with dreams of excellence. And while I met my goals at the high school level, the drive for perfection and hours of practice took it’s toll.
I lost my passion for the violin once I left for college. But I carried the lessons with me. There is discipline and reward found in pursuing a passion. I found my joy in exploring other creative arts like writing and marketing.
Yes, some passions are for a lifetime and some are for only a season. 🎶 ➡️ 📚
And sometimes they simply transform into a new parallel passion. 🎸
My musical passion returned as I supported my son through 12 years of guitar lessons. During that time, I noticed the tug on my heart to return to music. I remembered the feeling of achievement when I finally mastered a song and the simple joy of creating music for myself.
Those memories and nudges helped reconnect me with my passion for music. Over the last few years, I began playing and teaching myself the guitar. My passion for music simply shifted to a different instrument.
And let’s face it, the guitar is a whole lot more forgiving than the violin. 😉
The best part? I found my joy for music again.
Turn a loveless sound into a beautiful melody! 🎵
Is there a “dusty” passion you’d like to reconnect with or transform into something new so you can expand your joy?
Skip the perfectionism.
Run to your passion with a beginner’s mindset and live into the joy of creative expression.
We are born to create.
Shine bright, my friend! Share your light and joy with your corner of the world. 🌎
