She quietly expected great things to happen to her, and no doubt that’s one of the reasons they did. — Zelda Fitzgerald
Have you felt it?
There comes a point in life when another checklist, another “perfect day” routine, or another attempt to get things “just right” doesn’t quite cut it anymore.
You might not even realize it at first.
There’s just this quiet tug—a knowing that something in the way you’re living, relating, or even working…is ready to evolve.
This isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about remembering who you’ve always been—under the roles, the noise, the patterns. And going deeper isn’t just a phrase from a self-help book.
It’s a lived experience. One that comes with clues.
After being laid off and deciding to stay at home with my son, I came face-to-face with my definition of success. Until then, success meant career advancement, better vacations, and a “having it all” lifestyle.
Within a few weeks, I questioned whether success for me was something very different.
It felt very uncomfortable at first, which led to some tough questions: Did I have value if I wasn’t contributing financially to our family? Would I be “good enough” in the role of stay-at-home mom?
The answers didn’t come quickly.
They ebbed and flowed.
And honestly…at times it felt more like drowning in a tidal wave .🌊
I felt caught in a relentless riptide—pulled from the safety of the shore and the identity of who I’d been.
And yet wondering what adventures were pulling me out to sea where I might connect with who I longed to become.
So much uncertainty, doubt, and fear.
Eventually, I surrendered to the struggle and learned to trust myself and the Universe’s timing…
And that’s when the “magic” happened.
Wondering if you’re on the path of transformation, of going deeper, of becoming authentically you?
Here are four encouraging signs you might be on that path:
✨ You’re no longer satisfied with “fine.”
You’ve stopped pretending that “busy,” “fine,” or “I’m just tired” are complete answers. You notice when your voice trembles slightly at the end of a sentence. You catch yourself mid-conversation, realizing you’re playing a role you don’t quite want anymore. You’re curious about the emotions under the autopilot responses.
This is your soul tapping on the glass, whispering, “Tell the truth. Even just to yourself.”
✨ You crave quieter spaces, even if they scare you a little.
The noise that once helped you avoid your inner world—constant scrolling, over committing, saying yes to everything—feels louder than ever. You may not have fully embraced solitude, but you long for slower mornings, deeper conversations, or even five minutes without a to-do list.
This is your intuition getting stronger. She knows what she’s doing.
✨ You’re rethinking your definitions of success.
You’re realizing that all the achievement in the world doesn’t matter if you feel disconnected from your own truth. You still want to grow, contribute, and create—but not at the expense of your peace or presence. You’re craving meaningful work, yes—but also meaningful play, meaningful rest, and meaningful relationships.
That shift? That’s the beginning of integration. That’s depth.
✨ You feel uncomfortable…in a strangely hopeful way.
This is a big one. You may feel uncertain, foggy, or even a little wobbly. But there’s also something tender blooming underneath. Like you’re standing in a hallway between who you were and who you’re becoming. And instead of rushing out, you’re learning to linger.
When you can welcome that discomfort…it means you’re right on time.
These are just a few of the ways we dive deeper touch something truer underneath the surface.
The good news?
The discomfort doesn’t mean you’re not doing it wrong.
You’re doing it differently—and that takes courage.
🌱 THE PRACTICE: Let one sign lead you.
Growth doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
In fact, the most profound shifts often begin with a small inner yes.
Here’s your invitation:
Pick one of the four signs that spoke to you.
The one that tugged on something quiet.
The one that made your heart whisper, “That’s me.”
Let that be your focus for the next two weeks.
Not as a problem to fix.
But as a doorway to walk through with curiosity.
A few ways to explore this:
- If you resonated with craving quieter spaces, try scheduling two 20-minute blocks each week where you do nothing but sit, journal, walk, or breathe—without multitasking or scrolling. Let the stillness speak.
- If you felt the nudge around being done with “fine,” keep a small notebook or notes app and jot down every time you override your truth with “I’m okay.” Just notice. Then, once a day, ask yourself: What do I actually feel?
Remember, going deeper isn’t about doing more.
It’s about noticing more—and following what matters.
There are four more powerful signs you might be learning to go deeper—ones that reveal even more about how your inner growth is shifting your outer world.
I share them in part two of this conversation in the next post.
